Halloween Horror Nights Believes This Funhouse Is Terrifying
If you weren’t afraid of clowns before, you will be.
This year, Halloween Horror Nights is not playing around. While Ghostbusters characters can have a fun side and even some scare zones had people lingering a little longer, the newest house announcement has people frightened, no terrified. Are you ready for the Funhouse?
Both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood will feature the cult classic film franchise “Terrifier.” Yes, Art the Clown will be coming to the theme park, and he is not playing around. This house will have people looking for an exit.
For those unfamiliar with the horror franchise, it is intense, gory and otherwise terrifying. While some people can make it through a Jason slasher film or even not have nightmares after watching Freddy enter people’s dreams, Art the Clown is unlike any of those characters. He will haunt you forever.
According to the HHN team, this haunted house will be “an unfathomable level of gore.” While some other Halloween experiences push the envelope to see if people will have a visceral reaction, Universal has not gone that extreme. It seems that this year is different.
This experience combines sights, sounds, smells and more. The sensorial trip could have people running for an exit. The idea seems to show that Universal understands that people want to feel as if they stepped into Art’s world. It is more than just running from room to room. They want to be bombarded at every pass.
This announcement comes after many original houses were announced. From Hatchets from Hell and Grave of Flesh to El Artista and Galkin Monsters of the North, the creative team goes beyond the normal fights for this year’s experience.
What announcement could be next? Speculation says that there is a WWE collaboration coming. Based on the current trend, that potential concept would not include John Cena.
Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights runs 48 select nights from August 29 through November 2. Universal Studios Hollywood’s event runs select nights from September 4 through November 2. Tickets are on sale now.
